BSNL, according to TRAI data, had 96.79 million mobile subscribers in 2016 against 82.51 million in 2015. BSNL’s mobile share increased to 8.59 percent from 8.16 percent.
BSNL had 31.63 million mobile users in rural India, accounting for 6.81 percent share, said TRAI in a statement on July 3.
IDEA is the service provider with highest proportion of rural subscribers (54.77 percent), followed by Vodafone (53.68 percent) to their total subscribers.
BSNL had 13.74 million wireline subscribers in 2016 as compared with 15.13 in 2015, registering 1.4 percent drop.
BSNL is the leading telecom operator in wireline service with 13.74 million subscribers at the end of December 16 followed by Bharti with 3.83 million subscribers. BSNL has 3.74 million wireline users in rural India, while the remaining 10 million is in urban locations.
BSNL has 32897750 Internet subscribers, accounting for 8.4 percent share.
In wired internet segment, BSNL holds 61.13 percent market share with 13.15 million subscribers, followed by Bharti with 2.04 million subscribers. Total number of wired internet subscriber is 21.51 million at the end of Dec-16.
Top five broadband (wired + wireless) service providers in term of subscribers are Reliance Jio (72.16 million), Bharti (43.56 million), Vodafone (35.02 million), Idea (27.04 million) and BSNL (20.36 million). 50. In wired broadband segment, BSNL holds 54.85 percent market share with 9.95 million subscribers followed by Bharti with 2.04 million subscribers.
In wired narrowband segment, BSNL holds 95.05 percent market share with 3.20 million subscribers followed by Syscon Infoway with 0.05 million.
BSNL has increased its VSAT subscriber base to 20412 from 19979, accounting for 7.34 of the Indian VSAT market.
