Zhone Technologies posts $27.1 million revenue for Q1 2102

Telecom Lead Asia: Zhone Technologies, a provider of
FTTx network access solutions, has reported revenue of $27.1 million for the
first quarter of 2012, against $29.6 million for the first quarter of 2011 and
$33.4 million for the fourth quarter of 2011.

 

Net loss for the first quarter of 2012 was $3.4 million
compared with a net loss of $2.4 million for the first quarter of 2011 and a
net loss of $4.6 million for the fourth quarter of 2011.

 

The company posted adjusted EBITDA loss of $3.1 million
for the first quarter of 2012, compared to an adjusted EBITDA loss of $1.8
million for the first quarter of 2011 and an adjusted EBITDA profit of $0.3
million for the fourth quarter of 2011.

 

“Though this quarter’s revenue was seasonally weak,
there are several reasons for enthusiasm as we focus our efforts on 2012. We
experienced a strong increase in orders during March and as a result, we exited
the first quarter with better than expected backlog driving optimism for 2012
and a much stronger second quarter,” said Mory Ejabat, Zhone’s chief
executive officer.

 

Cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments at
March 31, 2012 was $15.0 million compared to $18.2 million at December 31,
2011.

 

The company’s total assets stood at $68.96 million for
the quarter ended 31 March, 2012, against $80.72 million for the previous
quarter.

more than 3,000 MXK multi-service access node (MSAN) platforms worldwide.

 

According to research findings, demand for FTTx services
to grow at a 14-16 percent CAGR over the next 3-5 years with continued strong
growth expected in the U.S., Latin America and European markets where Zhone
continues to focus its efforts.
