UTStarcom to build integrated IPTV broadcasting control platform in Zhejiang

UTStarcom, a provider of interactive, IP-based network
solutions in iDTV, IPTV, Internet TV and broadband for cable and telecom
operators, has received a provincial level contract from Zhejiang Radio, Film,
and TV Bureau to build the largest integrated IPTV broadcasting control
platform in China.

The platform has the capacity to serve approximately two
million households across Zhejiang province.

“Zhejiang province has been at the forefront of
China’s progression towards three network convergence and our digital,
high-definition broadcasting control platform will further strengthen their
leading position in IPTV service,” said UTStarcom
President and CEO Jack Lu.

Our solution will provide bi-directional service and
enable the customer to efficiently manage, store and search user data and media
content all at a lower cost. This contract win expands our market-leading
position in the PITV broadcasting control platform market in China. We will
continue to pursue future opportunities related to China’s triple play network
convergence, especially as a second round of trial cities are to be announced
in the near future,” Lu added.

Since 2010, UTStarcom has built seven IPTV broadcast
control platforms across China, specifically in Beijing, Hubei, Hunan,
Shandong, Shenzhen, Sichuan, and Tianjin.

UTStarcom will deliver a packaged solution that includes
software and infrastructure development, as well as content delivery network
(CDN) support.
