Australian telecom network operator Telstra is deploying the ARRIS E6000 Converged Edge Router (CER) in a bid to expand its cable network capacity on the DOCSIS 3.0 platform to offer better user experience to HFC customers.
TURKSAT, DELTA, Liberty Global, Comcast, SK Broadband, GCI, and WOW are also deploying ARRIS E6000 Converged Edge Router.
“The ARRIS E6000 will allow us to deliver fixed broadband cable services using the DOCSIS 3.0 standard to customers on HFC over the next 18 months,” said David Piltz, director, Fixed and Data Engineering, Telstra.
The E6000 CER is based on the Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP) specification that enables operators to optimize IP content delivery and to cost-effectively deploy services.
“Our work with Telstra and the E6000 CER is an extension of our pioneering work in HFC networks around the world,” said Bruce McClelland, president, Network & Cloud and Global Services, ARRIS.
Telstra aims to bring higher-speed broadband to its HFC customers across Australia. In Australia, Telstra provides 16.7 million mobile services, 7.3 million fixed voice services and 4.0 million fixed data services.
