Telecoms to install 113.5 GW of energy storage capacity

Telecom network providers are expected to install nearly 113.5 GW of new distributed generation and energy storage capacity between 2018 and 2027.
Telecom TowerEmerging telecom markets of Asia Pacific, the Middle East & Africa, and Latin America are expected to be the fastest-growing, Navigant Research said.

Telecom network companies are building wireless infrastructure to meet consumer demands and provide services.

“Moderate growth in new DG and ES capacity for telecom infrastructure will likely continue, despite high growth pockets for certain regions and technologies,” Alex Eller, senior research analyst with Navigant Research, said.

The driver for DG and ES for the telecom sector will continue to be emerging markets that have a higher proportion of off-grid and bad grid mobile tower sites.
