Radisys, AirHop and Broadcom offer SON-ready LTE small cell

Wireless infrastructure solution provider Radisys Corporation has joined hands with AirHop and Broadcom Corporation to deliver integrated Self-Organizing Network solution LTE small cell networks.

The solution was made possible with the integration of AirHop’s eSon software with Radisys’ Trillium LTE TOTALeNodeB solution and Broadcom Corporation’s BCM617xxseries small cell silicon.

In a statement the Radisys said that the integration would enable mobile operators to deploy interference management functionality across a broad customer base. Radisys said the trial run of the solution is underway with leading mobile operators.

Mobile operators are deploying LTE small cells to add capacity to their networks and increase coverage and performance to meet mobile subscribers’ bandwidth needs and demand for anywhere, anytime cell service. This integration of small cells into multi-vendor, multi-technology and multi-mode Heterogeneous Networks (HetNets) is driving demand for advanced SON capabilities and features.

SON enables the effective coordination of time and frequency resources, provides dynamic interference management and reduces costs of initial small cell roll-outs. The integrated pre-verified and pre-optimized SON solution provides mobile operators with a time-to-market advantage.

The solution reduces OPEX via automatic discovery, self configuration and other OSS level SON function and provides support for distributed real-time inter-cell coordination

The company officials said that the solution improve the system capacity via intelligent radio resource allocation. Besides, it offers real-time coordination among multiple cells coupled with interference management and load balancing algorithms.
