Ooredoo Qatar has partnered with Nokia to modernize its core network, enhancing service delivery with AI, machine learning, and network slicing.
This upgrade supports Ooredoo’s transition to a 5G standalone core network, enabling new business models and revenue streams. Nokia had 123 5G Standalone Core customers by the end of 2024.
Sheikh Ali Bin Jabor Al-Thani, Chief Executive Officer at Ooredoo Qatar, said: “Our vision is about enriching people’s digital lives and taking this important step with Nokia, of moving to a 5G standalone core network, supports our group-wide project initiatives of evolving our network operations with new digital capabilities and business models that strengthen the customer and enterprise experience.”
The deal includes Nokia’s 5G voice core, packet core, and subscriber data management, providing ultra-low latency and multi-access edge computing for real-time automation and gaming.
Nokia’s solutions allow Ooredoo to create virtual networks tailored for specific applications. Ooredoo will implement Nokia’s MantaRay NM for automated network monitoring and the Data Center Fabric solution to improve scalability, efficiency, and energy consumption.
