Nokia will extend its partnership with Taiwan Mobile through a one-year 5G contract to expand network capacity and improve 5G and 4G/LTE performance. This is particularly aimed at enhancing connectivity for Taiwan Mobile’s 10 million customers, including those in rural areas.
Nokia will deploy its advanced 5G AirScale technology, including the modular and high-capacity AirScale baseband solutions, Habrok 32 and Osprey 32 Massive MIMO radios, and Remote Radio Head products. This equipment, powered by the energy-efficient ReefShark System-on-Chip, is expected to deliver better coverage and capacity.
The project will modernize thousands of existing LTE sites, reducing energy consumption and aligning with Taiwan Mobile’s sustainability goals. Additionally, Nokia’s IPAA+ solution will add extra antennas in dense urban areas to improve connectivity.
Taiwan Mobile will implement Nokia’s Carrier Aggregation technology, enhancing data rates, throughput, and overall network performance by combining radio spectrum.
This collaboration builds on Nokia’s 20-year relationship with Taiwan Mobile, during which Nokia supported Taiwan Mobile’s 2G, 3G, and 4G networks and recently helped with the 5G rollout across 3,000 new sites.
The network upgrades aim to provide Taiwan Mobile customers with a more robust and faster 5G experience, benefiting both personal and IoT device connectivity.
