Nokia and stc complete 1Tbps long haul field trial

Nokia and stc Group have completed the first 1Tbps long haul field trial in the Middle East and Africa using Nokia’s sixth-generation super-coherent Photonic Service Engine (PSE-6s) technology.

STC Jawwy brand

The trial showcased the potential for high-capacity, scalable connectivity over stc Group’s live DWDM terrestrial network, addressing the needs of modern data centers, Nokia said in a news statement.

This milestone significantly enhances the capacity of stc Group’s digital network, enabling faster and more efficient data transmission over long distances. It supports Saudi Vision 2030 by aligning with the country’s goals for digital transformation and robust connectivity infrastructure.

The trial successfully transported multiple high-speed services, including 6 x 100GE and 1 x 400GE, over a single wavelength across 850km. Nokia’s DCI DWDM solution demonstrated exceptional performance, advanced energy efficiency, and seamless integration into stc Group’s data center environments, catering to the growing demands of AI and cloud services.

The collaboration between Nokia and stc Group sets a new benchmark for data center interconnectivity in the MEA region, enhancing digital infrastructure and supporting 5G expansion and cloud computing adoption in Saudi Arabia. This achievement positions the kingdom as a leader in digital innovation and sustainability.

Key leaders from both organizations emphasized the importance of this partnership in supporting the kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives. Nokia’s scalable, energy-efficient, and secure solutions continue to push the boundaries of optical technology, ensuring a future-ready network infrastructure.
