KDDI taps Infinera DTN-X platform to deliver 100G services

Telecom Lead Asia: KDDI has selected Infinera DTN-X platform with Instant Bandwidth to deliver 100G services.

The upgrade to the Miyazaki – Okinawa Cable network in Japan — stretching 10,300 km — will enable KDDI to offer a robust network, providing multi-Terabit optical transmission to deliver 100G services quickly and efficiently, on-demand.

Shigeto Kiritani, general manager and head of International Network Department at KDDI, says the DTN-X can rapidly increase the capacity of its system while enabling a robust network that is scalable and efficient.

Andrew Bond-Webster, VP APAC Sales for Infinera, says DTN-X provides simple operations, scalable super-channel bandwidth and efficient network utilization.

Infinera is the first to deliver 500G long-haul super-channels based on Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) and FlexCoherent Processor, scaling transport capacity without scaling operational complexity.

Infinera’s software-activated 100G bandwidth delivery solution enables a success-based business model for service providers allowing them to deploy 100G capacity the same day as they turn on the customer services.

In addition, Infinera’s DTN-X also integrates 5 Tb/s of OTN switching combined with an intelligent control plane, enabling service providers to effectively manage revenue generating services while maximizing efficient use of their infrastructure.
