Huawei Upgrades 5G-A Mobile Transport Solutions at MWC Barcelona 2026 to Accelerate 6G Evolution

At MWC Barcelona 2026, Huawei will unveil a comprehensive upgrade to its mobile transport solutions, focusing on green ultra-broadband, congestion awareness and network autonomy. The enhancements are designed to meet the evolving demands of service scenarios as networks transition from 5G to 5G-Advanced and prepare for the 6G era.

Huawei 5G-A Mobile Transport

Strengthening the Foundation for 5G-A and 6G

Huawei’s latest upgrade highlights three key values of 5G-A mobile transport that will help operators build a future-ready foundation for 6G evolution.

More than 20 countries have already allocated the U6G spectrum band for mobile communications. With its large bandwidth and wide coverage capabilities, the U6G band enables 5G-A services to deliver peak user experience rates exceeding 10Gbps. This supports emerging applications such as mobile XR and cloud-based immersive collaboration.

However, ultra-high-speed connectivity will drive a tenfold increase in transport network traffic. Traditional mobile transport networks, often built with complex ring, long-chain and star topologies combining microwave and fiber links, face bandwidth instability due to weather conditions and localized congestion. These limitations can degrade user experience and negatively affect Data Usage.

Huawei’s new generation 5G-A mobile transport solutions aim to address these challenges through three major innovations.

Green Ultra-Broadband to Cut TCO by 30 percent

The upgraded solution introduces a new series of base station routers supporting 10GE and 25GE at sites and 100GE on access rings, with the capability to evolve to 400GE. This architecture ensures long-term scalability for 5G-A and U6G deployments.

By deeply integrating energy-saving technologies, Huawei delivers lossless service performance with optimized power consumption. For a network deployment of 1,000 devices over three years, the solution can save approximately 3 million kWh of electricity, reducing total cost of ownership by 30 percent.

Congestion Awareness to Unlock Full Network Value

Huawei has embedded traffic congestion awareness into the transport layer. In combination with SRv6 and NCE intelligent management and control, the system can identify congestion points in real time and automatically generate optimization and capacity expansion recommendations.

By releasing previously suppressed traffic, operators can fully monetize their network resources. The company estimates that enhanced congestion management can increase user Data Usage by more than 20 percent while significantly improving customer experience.

Network Autonomy to Improve O and M Efficiency by 20 percent

To streamline operations and maintenance, Huawei integrates built-in OTDR capabilities and Self-Diag algorithms into the transport network. These technologies enable minute-level fiber break detection and precise fault localization.

As a result, operators can reduce manual site visits and improve fault handling efficiency by 20 percent, accelerating service restoration and lowering operational costs.

Enabling Agentic MBB and Preparing for 6G

Huawei’s upgraded 5G-A mobile transport solutions are designed to help operators build networks with optimal TCO, monetizable capabilities and highly efficient operations. The solution also supports the development of Agentic Mobile Broadband, aligning transport infrastructure with AI-driven network intelligence. Looking ahead to 6G, Huawei will continue to innovate in ultra-high bandwidth, ultra-high clock precision and deterministic ultra-low latency. The new transport architecture ensures compatibility with future evolution requirements, protecting long-term investments while enabling immediate commercial monetization of 5G-A services.
