Telecom vendor Huawei has maintained its leadership in the global service provider VoIP and IMS market in the third quarter, said Infonetics Research.
Strong performances in Asia Pacific, CALA, and EMEA helped Huawei maintain its lead in the service provider VoIP and IMS market in Q3.
NEC, Ericsson, Mavenir, Genband, and Metaswitch posted double-digit revenue growth
The report said the global service provider VoIP and IMS equipment market rose 52 percent to $974 million in Q3 from the year-ago quarter.
Legacy equipment — gateways and softswitches — showed resiliency, Infonetics said.
Due to LTE-related activity, North America enjoyed the strongest growth of any region in Q3, despite being down on a quarter-over-quarter basis.
The Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) continues to benefit from the overall expansion of fixed-line VoIP services, notching a 20 percent sequential increase in revenue in Q3.
“2013 is turning into a banner year for the IMS equipment market due largely to mobile operators in the U.S., Japan, and South Korea purchasing gear for voice over LTE (VoLTE),” said Diane Myers, principal analyst for VoIP, UC, and IMS at Infonetics Research.
Infonetics said the spending goes beyond core IMS to encompass session border controllers (SBCs), voice application servers and, in some cases, gateways, for access and interconnection capabilities.
