By Telecom Lead Team: Huawei India has clocked $1.2 billion
revenue in 2011. Growth was around 20 percent comparing with 2010 revenue.
The year 2011 was very good for us. But this year will be a
tough year. However, our recent discussion with telecom minister assisted
us in gaining confidence on 2G spectrum issue and we are hopeful that the
market will improve soon,” said Cai Liqun, chief executive officer, Huawei India.
Recently, Ericsson India CEO said that Ericsson is
looking at a market which is more stable and predictable to improve business in
2012. Due to delay in 2G roll outs and 3G expansion, many leading equipment
vendors could not meet their revenue targets in last two quarters.
The recent 2G spectrum issue has prompted several mobile
operators to exit and review their investment plans in India. Foreign equipment
vendors are likely to experience tough phase due to India’s new telecom
manufacturing policy.
Huawei is committed to create value in India. We started
R&D 10 years ago. We will be making more investments in India. 3G market is
growing and there will be more investments in India by telecom operators,”
Liqun added.
Huawei is devising new strategies to strengthen presence in
India. Mobile broadband will be the focus area.
Telecom equipment vendors such as Nokia Siemens Networks,
Alcatel-Lucent, ZTE and Ericsson are also giving more thrust on mobile
broadband.
At present, Indian operators do not have experience for
mobile broadband. We will enable Indian operators to learn from other global
telecom players. We are focusing on enterprise business in India. It is
important business,” Liqun added.
Bharti Airtel and RIL are in the process of launching LTE
services. Huawei is optimistic about getting LTE deals this year.
Meanwhile, Huawei announced its plans to introduce its full
range of LTE mobile products, including its LTE wireless network card (E3276)
and LTE mobile WiFi (E5776) into European markets and Asia Pacific by July
2012.
The E3276 and E5776 support LTE Cat 4 and boast speeds that
are up to 50 percent faster than LTE mobile broadband devices in the
market, providing up to 150Mbps downstream speed in LTE FDD format, and
112Mbps downstream speed in LTE TDD format.
In 2012, Huawei expands its LTE mobiles series to European
markets and Asia Pacific in an effort to consolidate its leadership
position in the LTE market.
