Ericsson has announced plans to relocate its Stockholm operations, including its global headquarters, from Kista to Hagastaden as part of a long-term strategy focused on innovation, collaboration, and talent attraction.
The telecom technology company said the relocation process is expected to begin in early 2028 and will take place in phases over several years. Ericsson’s current Kista operations include research and development activities, business units, group functions, and the Imagine Studio, which serves as the company’s technology showcase and collaboration center for customers, partners, industry stakeholders, and global events.
Ericsson Expands Presence in Stockholm’s Innovation District
Ericsson stated that Hagastaden was selected after an extensive evaluation of future operational requirements, office infrastructure needs, ecosystem accessibility, and collaboration opportunities.
According to Borje Ekholm, President and CEO of Ericsson, the new location will strengthen Ericsson’s ability to collaborate with technology partners, customers, decision makers, and the broader innovation ecosystem while improving access to future talent.
The move reflects the growing importance of urban innovation clusters, integrated technology ecosystems, and collaborative office environments within the global telecom and enterprise technology industries.
Ericsson Signs Multiple Long-Term Property Leases
Ericsson confirmed that it has signed lease agreements with Atrium Ljungberg and Castellum covering five major properties in Hagastaden totaling approximately 71,000 square meters.
The properties leased from Atrium Ljungberg include:
Wave – 22,000 square meters
Corner of Ekeblad – 23,000 square meters
Trinity – 13,000 square meters
Ericsson will lease two additional properties from Castellum:
Emerald House – 9,500 square meters
Jubileumshuset – 3,500 square meters
The company had previously signed a lease agreement with Castellum for the Infinity property in Hagastaden, a 24,000 square meter development currently under construction and expected to be completed by late 2027. Infinity will consist of two connected buildings designed to support Ericsson’s future city campus strategy.
New Ericsson City Campus to Focus on Collaboration and Innovation
Ericsson said the future Hagastaden campus will be designed to create a modern workplace environment focused on collaboration, innovation, and advanced technology engagement.
The company indicated that the new city campus will also function as a showcase center for global customers and ecosystem partners visiting Stockholm.
The relocation strategy aligns with broader telecom industry trends where companies are investing in flexible urban workspaces, innovation-driven campus environments, advanced R&D infrastructure, and talent-centric office ecosystems.
Ericsson added that it will continue refining its long-term footprint in Hagastaden as planning for the future campus progresses. The company will also provide ongoing updates to employees throughout the multi-year relocation process beginning in 2028.
