Qualcomm inks 3G and 4G license deal with Haier, Tianyu and QiKu

Chipset major Qualcomm announced its new 3G and 4G Chinese patent license agreements with three vendors –Haier, QiKu Internet Network Scientific and Beijing Tianyu Communication Equipment.

Qualcomm has granted Haier a royalty-bearing patent license to develop, manufacture and sell 3G WCDMA and CDMA2000 including EV-DO and 4G LTE including 3-mode GSM, TD-SCDMA and LTE-TDD subscriber units for use in China.

Eric Reifschneider, senior vice president and general manager of Qualcomm Technology Licensing for Qualcomm, said: “Qualcomm is pleased to have helped Chinese companies for more than a decade to establish themselves among the top manufacturers in the mobile industry.”

Qualcomm has granted QiKu, a joint venture between Qihu and Coolpad, a patent license to develop, manufacture and sell 3G WCDMA and CDMA2000 including EV-DO, and 4G LTE including 3-mode GSM, TD-SCDMA and LTE-TDD subscriber units for use in China.

The royalties payable by QiKu, Tianyu and Haier are consistent with the terms of the rectification plan submitted by Qualcomm to China’s National Development and Reform Commission.
