Telecom Lead Asia: Nexus 7 tablet has been priced at Rs 15,999 in India.
The new tablet, which was launched last year in the U.S., can be booked online now. It will ship to consumers on April 5.
This has become the first Google device to be sold through the company’s virtual store in India.
Indian consumers can now pre-order the tablet through Google Play store.
The Nexus 7 is powered by Tegra 3 Quad-core processor running at 1.3Ghz. It has a seven-inch screen with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. It has 1GB RAM and a 1.2 mega-pixel camera for front chat. For now, Google is offering only one model of Nexus 7 in India. The device has 16GB storage and support for Wi-Fi but not 3G.
Google’s support page informs consumers that the company would ship the tablet to most location in India. The delivery period is three to seven days, according to media reports.
The Nexus 7 is vastly superior to Android tablets sold in India market for a price of less than Rs 20,000. In terms of performance and user experience, its closest competitor is the iPad Mini.
Google is working on improving its India operations. Last year, the internet giant announced support for app pricing in rupees in its Android Play store. Last month, the company added support for eBooks in the store.
