Vivo expands smartphone manufacturing facility, adds 2,000 jobs

Vivo today announced the roll-out of phase 1 of its new smartphone manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh, as part of its approximately 7,500 crore investment plan in India.

Vivo India produces approximately 25 million smartphone units at its existing mobile phone manufacturing unit. Vivo aims to produce more than 33 million devices annually with the help of the new facility in India.

Vivo has added over 2,000 employees at its new manufacturing facility located at WTC Tech zone, Greater Noida, UP. Vivo plans to add approximately 5000 employees as part of the Phase II expansion. The total employment in vivo manufacturing facilities will be nearly 15,000 employees.

“With the help of our new facility in Greater Noida, we will be able to meet the growing demands for our products in India,” Nipun Marya, director – Brand Strategy, Vivo India, said in a statement.

Vivo India has a market share of 17 percent in the Indian smartphone market during the third quarter of 2019, according to the latest Counterpoint report.

Vivo India has more than 550 service centres in India offering quality services to its mobile phone customers in 539 cities across 27 states and 5 union territories.
