Vietnam’s smartphone market in Q3 2025 reflects strong consumer demand for mid-range 5G devices and sustained interest in premium upgrades. Samsung remains the top smartphone brand in the country with a commanding 29 percent share, supported by its broad Galaxy portfolio and strong nationwide distribution.
Xiaomi takes the second spot with 19 percent share, driven by its value-focused devices and competitive pricing. Apple and OPPO are tied with 17 percent share each, showcasing the market’s balanced demand for premium iPhones and feature-rich Android models. Apple continues to attract urban and young professional buyers, while OPPO benefits from strong offline sales and camera-driven devices.
Realme secures the fifth position with 6 percent share, maintaining relevance among budget-conscious consumers looking for reliable performance at lower price points.
Vietnam’s smartphone landscape remains vibrant, with demand fuelled by 5G expansion, longer device lifecycles, and rising interest in mid-to-premium devices across major cities.
Vietnam’s telecom market is dominated by three major state‑backed operators — Viettel, VNPT (VinaPhone), and MobiFone — which together control over 90 percent of the mobile subscriber base, according to Mordor Intelligence report.
Viettel leads by a large margin with roughly 56 percent market share, followed by VinaPhone (~21 percent) and MobiFone (~17.9 percent).
The total number of mobile subscribers is projected to grow from around 131.5 million in 2025 to 158 million by 2030.
Vietnam’s telecom market is shifting rapidly toward data-centric usage: mobile data revenue is expected to achieve over 9 percent CAGR through 2029. 4G remains the dominant access technology, but 5G is being rolled out aggressively. As of early 2025, Viettel had about 5.5 million 5G subscribers.
On pricing and data plans, operators are offering very competitive packages. Viettel introduced a 5G daily plan at just VND 10,000, giving users 6 GB/day, and weekly 5G plans (e.g., 8 GB/day for 7 days at VND 70,000). They also run promotional 5G packages, such as a “TET5G” offering 25 GB of high-speed data over 5 days for just VND 50,000. More generous monthly 5G packages exist — for instance, prepaid plans offering 120 GB for VND 135,000, up to 600 GB for VND 480,000, plus postpaid tiers offering up to 1,500 GB.
VinaPhone and MobiFone also offer a range of data‑centric plans. According to a travel‑SIM guide, VinaPhone has prepaid “combo” packs and pure data plans, for example a 5 GB/day plan that can be quite affordable. MobiFone provides “create-your-own” plans: with daily plans starting from 5,000 VND where users can pick how much data and call time they want; monthly plans go up to ~22.5 GB for 150,000 VND.
