Research firm IHS Markit has released the smartphone market share report for the third quarter of 2018.

The report also has the market share of top eight smartphone companies in the world. Samsung with 20 percent, Huawei with 14.7 percent, Apple with 13.2 percent, Xiaomi with 9.1 percent, Oppo with 8.8 percent, Vivo with 8.1 percent, LG with 3.3 percent and Motorola/Lenovo with 3 percent share are the top smartphone vendors during the third quarter of 2018.

Smartphone shipments fell 3.3 percent to 354.8 million units in Q3 2018, recording negative year-over-year growth rate for two consecutive quarters in 2018. The drop in smartphone shipment in second quarter of 2018 was 2.1 percent.

The total shipment volume exceeded 1 billion units (–1 percent) in 9 months of 2018, said Jusy Hong, research and analytics director, smartphones, IHS Markit, and Zaker Li, research analyst, smartphones, IHS Markit.

The Strategy Analytics report said smartphone shipments fell 8 percent annually to reach 360 million units in Q3 2018.

The IDC report said smartphone vendors shipped 355.2 million units during, resulting in a 6 percent drop in shipments. IDC said this was the fourth consecutive quarter of year-over-year declines for the global smartphone market.
