Telecom Lead Asia: One more large display smartphone — S Mobility’s Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530 on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS platform — is landing in the Indian mobile market.
S Mobility has priced the 5.3 inch qHD IPS display smartphone at Rs 13,999.
S Mobility is launching one more innovative smartphone at a time when market research agency IDC is going to announce Apple as the second largest mobile phone maker in India based on revenues.
Times of India on Monday said IDC’s Asia-Pacific Mobile Phone Tracker for October-December 2012 will show later this week that Apple achieved a value market share of 15.6 percent compared with 3.9 percent in the preceding quarter.
Apple has toppled BlackBerry and wrested revenue market share from No. 1 Samsung in the last quarter of 2012. In value terms, it was still way behind Samsung’s 38.8 percent share, but ahead of BlackBerry’s 6 percent, while its volume grew more than three times, putting the iPhone at fifth spot behind Samsung, Micromax, Sony and Nokia.
Last week, Samsung announced its REX range.
This week, Nokia said it would lower price of Lumia smartphones in India.
