Reliance Jio will be selling the JioPhone 2 4G phone at Rs 2,999 on JIO.com at 12 PM on 16 August.
The strategy of Reliance Jio, the largest 4G operator in India, is to attract customers in the low income group, who cannot afford a 4G smartphone, to its nationwide mobile data network.
JioPhone 2 has a horizontal screen display and a full keyboard. The horizontal display provides a horizontal screen viewing experience. The full keyboard provides a QWERTY keypad for ease of typing.
Reliance Jio is targeting to achieve 100 million users on the JioPhone platform in the shortest possible time.
JioPhone customers will get access to Facebook, YouTube and Google Maps from 15 August, while WhatsApp will be added soon.
JioPhone users are already enjoying free voice calls and a host of applications with premium content such as JioTV, JioCinema, JioMusic and JioChat.
