Motorola is positioning the Moto Pad 70 Groove as an entertainment-first premium tablet by combining flagship-style multimedia capabilities, AI-powered productivity, long software support and aggressive pricing to challenge established competitors.

The Moto Pad 70 Groove features a 12.1-inch 2.5K display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10, DCI-P3 colour gamut, and up to 800 nits High Brightness Mode for enhanced streaming, gaming and content creation.

One of the tablet’s biggest differentiators is its 9-unit JBL Pro Speaker System, comprising four tweeters, three woofers and two passive radiators, complemented by Dolby Atmos audio. Motorola says the setup delivers cinema-quality sound with deeper bass, clearer vocals and improved audio separation. The tablet also supports Bluetooth Speaker Mode and Live Transcript with real-time translation across more than 40 languages.

Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 octa-core processor, paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Storage can be expanded up to 2TB using a microSD card, giving Motorola an advantage over several premium tablets that lack expandable storage. The chipset supports smooth multitasking, gaming and 4K video playback.

Motorola has integrated several AI capabilities to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy AI and Apple’s AI ecosystem. The tablet includes Google Gemini, Circle to Search with Google, AI Notes, AI Writing Tools, Smarter Reader, and Smart Connect for seamless file sharing, screen mirroring and cross-device continuity within Motorola’s ecosystem.

The Moto Pad 70 Groove ships with Android 16 and includes guaranteed upgrades through Android 18, along with four years of security updates, extending the device’s software lifespan.

The tablet also introduces 360° Kickstand 2.0, supporting Lean Mode for writing and sketching, Stand Mode for video calls and digital displays, Theatre Mode for hands-free entertainment, and Hanging Mode for kitchens, workouts and travel. Automatic switching between portrait and landscape orientations further enhances usability.

Battery performance is another highlight. The Moto Pad 70 Groove packs a 10,200mAh battery, offering up to 15 hours of YouTube streaming. It supports 45W TurboPower charging, with Motorola claiming users can obtain up to two hours of battery life from 10 minutes of charging.

The tablet features a premium all-metal design finished in PANTONE Blue Surf while maintaining a slim 6.8mm profile despite integrating the rotating kickstand.

Motorola Challenges Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi and Apple

Motorola is entering one of India’s most competitive tablet segments with an effective price of ₹33,999.

Against the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE, which starts at around ₹42,999, Motorola offers a lower price, stronger multimedia hardware, expandable storage up to 2TB, a 9-speaker JBL audio system, and the integrated kickstand, while Samsung continues to differentiate through S Pen support, IP68 protection, and the Galaxy ecosystem.

Compared with the OnePlus Pad 3, Motorola focuses on entertainment rather than pure flagship performance by combining Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, premium speakers, AI tools and flexible viewing modes at a lower price point.

The Xiaomi Pad 7, positioned near the ₹30,000 segment, competes on value and performance, while Motorola attempts to stand out through its 9-unit JBL Pro Speaker System, larger 10,200mAh battery, 45W fast charging, AI-powered productivity features and unique kickstand design.

Against the Apple iPad Air, Motorola targets buyers seeking premium tablet experiences without entering Apple’s higher-priced ecosystem. While Apple retains strengths in creative workflows and ecosystem integration, Motorola offers Android flexibility, Google Gemini AI, expandable storage up to 2TB, built-in kickstand functionality and a substantially lower entry price.

With flagship-inspired entertainment features, AI integration, long-term software support and aggressive pricing, Motorola is positioning the Moto Pad 70 Groove as a serious challenger to Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Lenovo and Apple in India’s rapidly growing premium tablet market.
