LG
Electronics and Mocana, a company focusing on smart device security, announced
a new product line aimed at protecting the Android ecosystem from smartphone
hackers and mobile malware.
Mocana’s new VeloDAR
Encryption, a data-at-rest encryption solution for devices, and the new Mocana
VeloVPN Client, a cross-compatible IPSec VPN client for Android, will come
pre-loaded on LG’s Android smartphones.
VeloVPN
and VeloDAR are highly complementary solutions to LG and the needs of our
customers. As one of the world’s largest manufacturers of Android smartphones
and the front runner among smart device manufacturers with enterprise mobility
solutions capabilities, we are providing our users with secure LG mobile
devices. Mocana’s newest additions to its Smart Device Security Platform allow
us to deliver security solutions effectively and also enable integration easily
to meet the demands of the enterprise market fast,” said Ki S Kim, corporate
vice president of Global Enterprise Solutions Business at LG Electronics.
The
smartphone and tablet markets have seen remarkable consumer adoption of
Android, and now enterprises are looking to take advantage of Android’s
features, functionality, and user experience. As OEMs look to better bridge
consumer devices and enterprise systems, advanced security features are
non-negotiable requirements for corporate regulatory and security policy
compliance.
The
launch of our new Velo product line marks the beginning of a new era for
Mocana. Traditionally, we’ve been focused on protecting smart devices in
critical contexts like military, smart grid, medical and mobile infrastructure.
Moving forward, you’ll see Mocana evolving to deliver value-added mobile
security offerings for consumer, enterprise and federal end-users as well,”
said Adrian Turner, CEO of Mocana.
Mocana
VeloDAR Encryption protects sensitive enterprise data that resides on Android
smartphones and tablets, while Mocana VeloVPN Client secures the data
communication link from these mobile devices into enterprise networks. These
critical security capabilities allow enterprise IT to say ‘yes’ to Android
devices, which accelerates Android adoption and makes Mocana’s handset
manufacturer customers more competitive. The entire eco-system benefits from a
safer, more secure mobile smartphone and computing platform.
