Apple has unveiled plans to invest over $250 million to enhance its regional campus or operations in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore.
Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, “Singapore is truly a one-of-a-kind place, and we are proud of the connection we’ve built with this dynamic community of creators, learners, and dreamers.”
Apple’s presence in Singapore dates back to 1981 when it established its first facility with 72 employees dedicated to the development of the Apple II personal computer. Over the years, Apple’s operations in Singapore have flourished, with the current employee count surpassing 3,600.
As part of his Southeast Asia tour, Cook is scheduled to meet with Singapore’s prime minister-designate Lawrence Wong, as well as the city-state’s incumbent leader Lee Hsien Loong later this week.
