Main facts about global semiconductor market in 2024 and 2025

The World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization has revealed its latest projections for the global semiconductor market for 2024 and 2025.

BE Semiconductors

WSTS has revised its 2024 projections upward, anticipating 19 percent growth in the semiconductor market.

The global semiconductor market value for 2024 is estimated to reach $627 billion, reflecting improved performance in the computing sector during the second and third quarter of 2024.

Memory is expected to increase by 81 percent. Logic will grow at 16.9 percent. Other categories like Discrete, Optoelectronics, Sensors, and Analog Semiconductors are forecasted to see declines.

Americas and Asia Pacific are set to lead the recovery, with anticipated growth rates of 38.9 percent and 17.5 percent, respectively. In contrast, Japan is expected to post modest growth of 1.4 percent, while Europe may face a decline of 6.7 percent.

WSTS predicts 11.2 percent increase in the semiconductor market in 2025 with estimated value of $697 billion. The growth will be driven predominantly by the Logic and Memory sectors, which together are projected to exceed $400 billion in value. This includes a growth of over 17 percent for Logic and 13 percent for Memory. Other semiconductor categories are expected to grow at more modest, single-digit rates, signalling steady overall expansion for the industry.

In 2025, all regions are poised for continued expansion. The Americas and Asia Pacific are expected to maintain their double-digit growth.
