Jio Platforms has appointed Dan Bailey, a seasoned telecom and investment banking executive with over 35 years of experience, as its new President to lead international expansion efforts. Based in London, Bailey will report to Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, and join Jio’s Executive Committee to drive global business initiatives. Bailey’s career spans senior roles at top firms including Schroders/Citi, Morgan Stanley, HSBC, and as Chairman of Deutsche Bank’s TMT practice.

BT and Ericsson Supercharge UK 5G with New Enterprise Functions

At MWC 26 in Barcelona, BT Group announced an expanded partnership with Ericsson to introduce two new 5G Standalone (SA) network functions for enterprise customers in the UK. The additions – the Network Slice Selection Function (NSSF) and the Network Exposure Function (NEF) – build on Ericsson’s dual‑mode 5G core deployed on BT’s network cloud. NSSF enables dynamic selection and optimisation of network slices in real‑time based on factors like location, load and application needs, improving performance and reducing congestion. NEF provides standardised APIs that let developers and businesses integrate network capabilities directly into applications and workflows, paving the way for programmable network services and faster innovation.

Huawei has achieved a major digital inclusion milestone by providing internet access to 170 million people in remote regions across 80 countries, significantly exceeding its original pledge to the International Telecommunication Union to connect 120 million by 2025.
