ZTE and Beeline Complete CIS’s First Low-Band Massive MIMO Trial in Kazakhstan

ZTE and Beeline Kazakhstan have completed the Commonwealth of Independent States’ first low-band Frequency Division Massive MIMO (FMM) trial in Shymkent, demonstrating an approach to improving mobile network capacity without additional spectrum or new cell sites. The trial focused on strengthening low-band network performance, which is essential for delivering wider geographical coverage and reliable connectivity. ZTE’s solution demonstrated improvements in network capacity, user speeds and service-carrying capability while addressing congestion in existing infrastructure. The technology enables operators to use available spectrum more efficiently as mobile data consumption increases. The successful trial provides Beeline Kazakhstan with another option for improving network performance while managing infrastructure investment.

Philippine Telecom Operators Join GSMA to Strengthen Anti-Scam Protection

Globe Telecom, PLDT/Smart and DITO Telecommunity are strengthening anti-scam initiatives in the Philippines through collaboration with the GSMA. The programme focuses on network protection, digital transaction security and earlier identification of fraudulent activities. Globe is participating in a GSMA Foundry proof of concept examining how mobile network data and signals can identify suspicious behaviour before consumers experience financial losses. The operators are also supporting GSMA Open Gateway tools to improve identity verification and authentication for online transactions. According to the GSMA ASEAN Consumer Scam Report 2026, 76 percent of surveyed Filipino consumers expressed serious concerns about scams, while 62 percent said these concerns had discouraged them from certain interactions or transactions.

Indus Towers Deploys 50,000 Solar-Powered Telecom Sites With 300 MW Capacity

Indus Towers has deployed solar power systems across 50,000 telecom sites in India, integrating approximately 300 MW of renewable energy capacity into its tower infrastructure. The company aims to double its solar-powered footprint to 100,000 sites by FY29, reducing dependence on conventional electricity and diesel generators. The installations represent approximately 18.5 percent of its total network of 270,480 towers as of September 2026. Indus Towers is combining solar installations with lithium-ion battery storage, digital energy management systems and smart meters to improve energy efficiency. Its renewable energy programme also targets lower operating costs, reduced diesel consumption and carbon emissions across its nationwide telecommunications infrastructure.
