Albany Set for a Fiber Revolution as Wire 3 Launches Major Broadband Buildout

Wire 3 has begun construction of its 100 percent fiber internet network in Albany, Georgia, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion across the Southeast. The project will deliver high-speed, future-ready broadband connectivity to more than 37,000 homes and businesses, with the first customer connections expected by fall 2026. Albany becomes Wire 3’s second serviceable market in Georgia, following the company’s ongoing fiber deployment efforts in Macon. As construction progresses, residents and businesses will receive updates ahead of service availability. The investment underscores Wire 3’s commitment to expanding multi-gigabit fiber access, enhancing digital infrastructure, and providing greater broadband choice for communities across the region.

From Weeks to Minutes: AI Agents Revolutionize 5G Network Slicing Design

Telefonica Deutschland and Blue Planet, a division of Ciena, have demonstrated how AI agents can dramatically accelerate the design and deployment of advanced 5G network slicing services. Through a joint proof of concept, the companies integrated Blue Planet AI Studio with Telefonica Deutschland’s Multi-Domain Service Orchestration platform, enabling AI-driven automation across the service lifecycle. The initiative reduced complex engineering tasks including slice specification design and standards-compliant service payload generation from weeks to minutes. By embedding AI agents into operational workflows, the project improved speed, consistency, quality, and error reduction while supporting Telefonica’s broader goal of achieving more autonomous, AI-native network operations. The results highlight the growing role of agentic AI in simplifying next-generation telecom service delivery and accelerating innovation for enterprise 5G applications.

No More Dead Zones: Hytera’s New W60 Wearable Radio Keeps Mission-Critical Teams Connected Anywhere

Hytera has launched the W60 Wearable MCS Radio at Critical Communications World 2026, introducing a lightweight device designed to extend mission-critical communications beyond the reach of traditional Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) networks. The wearable radio connects with existing PMR systems and automatically switches to broadband MCX services when users move into areas with poor radio coverage, such as tunnels, basements, and underground facilities. Weighing about 156 grams, the W60 features an 8 MP camera for live video streaming, AI-powered noise cancellation, AES-256 encryption, IP68 rugged protection, and up to 24 hours of battery life. The solution enables public safety, transportation, energy, and industrial organizations to expand coverage, enhance situational awareness, and maximize existing PMR infrastructure investments without costly network upgrades.
