Wire 3 Commits $38 Million to Expand Fiber Broadband Across Georgia Communities

Wire 3 has announced a $38 million investment to expand its 100 percent fiber-optic broadband network into Warner Robins and Centerville, Georgia, bringing high-speed internet access to nearly 38,000 homes and businesses across Houston County. Construction is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks, with the first customer connections expected as early as fall 2026. The fully funded expansion forms part of the company’s broader Georgia growth strategy, responding to increasing demand for reliable multi-gigabit connectivity. Residents and businesses can register for pre-sale updates before service becomes available. Wire 3 said the investment will strengthen regional digital infrastructure while supporting residential, commercial and community connectivity needs.

Qualcomm Acquires Israeli Startup SAM to Strengthen AI-Powered Network Security

Qualcomm has acquired Israeli startup Seamless Network (SAM), expanding its capabilities in AI-driven network security and connectivity management. SAM develops intelligent software that automatically monitors, secures and optimizes home Wi-Fi networks and connected devices by detecting cyber threats, connectivity issues and performance problems in real time. The acquisition is expected to strengthen Qualcomm’s connectivity portfolio by integrating advanced network intelligence into its platforms for broadband providers, telecom operators and device manufacturers. Although financial terms were not disclosed, SAM’s technology and engineering expertise are expected to enhance Qualcomm’s ability to deliver smarter, more secure and self-optimizing networking solutions across consumer and enterprise environments.

FCC Expands Ban on Chinese Telecom Equipment to Strengthen U.S. Network Security

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has expanded its restrictions on Chinese-produced telecommunications and surveillance equipment by prohibiting imports of virtually all previously authorized products from companies listed on its Covered List, including Huawei, ZTE, Hikvision, Dahua and Hytera. The action closes a regulatory loophole that had allowed certain previously approved equipment to continue entering the U.S. market despite earlier restrictions. While the new rules do not require removal of equipment already installed, they block future imports to strengthen the security of U.S. communications infrastructure against potential cyber and national security risks associated with foreign-manufactured telecommunications technologies.
