Viettel’s Global Surge: Overseas Revenue Jumps 25 percent in 20-Year Expansion Milestone

Viettel Group marked 20 years of international expansion, showcasing strong growth across its global operations. Since launching overseas services in Cambodia in 2006, the company has expanded to 16 countries, operating telecom networks in 10 markets and securing No.1 positions in seven. Its international segment now generates over $3 billion annually, maintaining an average growth rate of around 20 percent. In 2025, overseas revenue increased 25 percent year-on-year to approximately $1.74 billion, while net profit surged 57 percent. Viettel’s global operations have also achieved a 92 percent capital recovery rate, reinforcing its strong financial performance and sustained international success.

The Trump administration is considering expanding restrictions on Chinese technology imports, targeting telecom and surveillance equipment from companies like Huawei, ZTE, Hikvision, and Dahua. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has proposed banning not only new products but also previously approved equipment from entering the U.S., tightening oversight of devices already authorized. These firms are on the FCC’s “Covered List” over national security concerns, reflecting fears that such equipment could pose risks to critical infrastructure. The move signals a stronger push to secure U.S. communications networks by limiting future imports and reducing reliance on potentially vulnerable foreign technology sources.
