Vero Fiber and MontanaSky Combine to Expand Fiber Broadband Across Northwest Montana
Vero Fiber and MontanaSky have agreed to combine their broadband operations, creating a larger fiber provider serving communities across northwest Montana. The transaction brings together Vero’s fiber investment platform with MontanaSky’s established regional broadband network and customer base. The companies said the combination will support additional fiber-to-the-home expansion, improve network reliability and accelerate deployment of higher-speed internet services across underserved and growing communities. MontanaSky has operated in Montana for more than 30 years, while Vero has been expanding fiber networks across multiple U.S. states. The companies did not disclose the transaction value. The strategy reflects continuing consolidation among regional broadband providers as operators seek greater scale to finance fiber construction, upgrade legacy infrastructure and compete for residential and business broadband customers.
WhiteFiber Plans $250 Million Financing to Fund New AI Data Centers and GPU Infrastructure
WhiteFiber plans to raise $250 million through convertible senior notes due 2032, with purchasers receiving an option for another $37.5 million. A substantial portion of the proceeds is intended for new AI and high-performance computing infrastructure. WhiteFiber plans to lease or acquire additional properties, construct data centers, enter energy-service agreements and purchase equipment including GPU servers for its cloud business. Funding may also support acquisitions, partnerships and joint ventures. The company said additional construction financing will still be required to fully execute its expansion program. WhiteFiber operates vertically integrated HPC data centers and cloud infrastructure designed for generative AI workloads. The financing follows its broader push to secure power, facilities and computing capacity as AI infrastructure demand accelerates.
Vuzix Optical Interconnect Supports 19,200 Channels for AI Data Center Networks
Vuzix has begun shipping initial samples of its Causeway optical waveguide bridge for AI data-center interconnect applications, including co-packaged optics. Its current demonstration architecture supports evaluation of up to 19,200 parallel optical channels across an approximately 30 mm optical path. Vuzix is targeting high-density optical routing between AI processors, where electrical interconnects increasingly face bandwidth, power and thermal limitations. The company is also developing waveguide designs compatible with VCSEL optical sources. Industry forecasts cited by Vuzix estimate that the combined co-packaged optics and near-package optics market could rise from around $100 million in 2025 to more than $39 billion by 2030. The technology targets increasingly bandwidth-intensive GPU clusters and next-generation AI data-center networking architectures.
