Univity Secures €27M to Build Europe’s Starlink Rival

French space-tech startup Univity has raised €27 million in Series A funding to advance its plan for a European satellite internet network aimed at competing with SpaceX’s Starlink. Instead of directly serving consumers, the company will provide wholesale space infrastructure to telecom operators, enabling them to deliver satellite-based connectivity. Backed by investors including Blast, Expansion, and Bpifrance under the France 2030 initiative, the funding will support its Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) 5G demonstration programme. Univity is preparing for large-scale satellite deployment from 2028 and plans to launch thousands of satellites to ensure low-latency, high-speed global coverage. The company has already secured multiple telecom partnerships, positioning itself as a key player in Europe’s push for independent and resilient space-based connectivity.

Eutelsat and MTN Côte d’Ivoire Expand Satellite Connectivity

Eutelsat and MTN Côte d’Ivoire have entered a multi-year partnership to enhance nationwide connectivity using Eutelsat’s KONNECT satellite services. The collaboration aims to extend high-speed broadband access to underserved and rural regions where traditional fibre and mobile networks are limited. MTN will leverage satellite capacity to provide reliable internet for both consumers and enterprises, while also rolling out community Wi-Fi hotspots in remote areas to promote digital inclusion. The initiative is designed to complement existing terrestrial infrastructure and improve access to essential services such as education, business communication, and e-governance, supporting broader efforts to bridge the digital divide in Côte d’Ivoire.

Eutelsat Renews PCTV Partnership to Strengthen Satellite TV Distribution in Mexico

Eutelsat has renewed its partnership with PCTV, part of Megacable Holdings, to continue delivering video services via the EUTELSAT 117 West A satellite. The agreement strengthens Eutelsat’s position in Mexico’s broadcast and pay-TV market, reinforcing E117WA as a key platform for television distribution across Latin America. PCTV will keep using the satellite to distribute a wide portfolio of national and international channels to cable headends across Mexico and the region. The partnership ensures reliable, high-quality content delivery, enabling operators to reach millions of households while supporting evolving digital and pay-TV platforms.
