Kerala Telecom Shake-Up: Jio and Vi Lead TRAI’s 2025 Network Performance Test
TRAI has released the results of its independent drive test (IDT) for the Kerala Licensed Service Area (LSA), covering city routes, highways, tourist and institutional hotspots, and public‑transport hubs in October 2025. The test assessed 2G–5G networks of Bharti Airtel, BSNL, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea, measuring call‑setup success, call drop/silence rates, voice quality (MOS), download/upload speeds, and latency. Jio and Vi recorded around 92% call‑setup success, while Airtel and BSNL showed lower or varied speeds; download speeds ranged from ~7.3 Mbps (BSNL) to ~272 Mbps (Jio).
Transforming Offshore Energy: Nokia & Tampnet Unleash 5G Power in the US Gulf
Nokia and Tampnet are partnering to deploy advanced 5G private‑wireless solutions across the Gulf of Mexico’s offshore energy infrastructure, covering around 120 base stations and targeting 350–400 offshore facilities including platforms, rigs, FPSOs, wind farms, and vessels. This investment builds on Tampnet’s prior deployment of the world’s first fully‑autonomous offshore 5G edge network in Norway. The enhanced connectivity delivers ultra‑low latency and high reliability, enabling real-time remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, scalable automation, improved safety, and operational efficiency.
Hytera & Vodafone Qatar Team Up to Boost Next-Gen Mission-Critical Networks
Hytera and Vodafone Qatar have signed an industry‑focused MoU at MWC Doha 2025 to deepen cooperation around missioncritical communications in Qatar. The collaboration aims to deliver secure, reliable and future‑ready communication solutions tailored for key sectors such as public safety, utilities, transportation, healthcare and construction. By combining Vodafone Qatar’s strong network infrastructure and Hytera’s global expertise across standards like TETRA, DMR, PDT and LTE, the partnership intends to offer enhanced services that enable organisations to improve coordination and strengthen safety.
