Tejas Networks Shares Plunge After Heavy Q4 Loss and Revenue Collapse

Shares of Tejas Networks dropped nearly 6 percent after the company reported a sharp ₹211 crore loss in Q4 FY26, widening from ₹72 crore a year earlier. Revenue fell steeply by 82 percent year on year to about ₹333 crore, highlighting weak demand and execution setbacks. The company has now posted five consecutive quarterly losses, with full year losses reaching around ₹909 crore. Operating performance worsened significantly, with EBITDA turning negative and margins shrinking. The poor financial results weighed heavily on investor sentiment, triggering a notable decline in the stock and raising concerns over near term business recovery prospects.

OTT Regulation Push Gains Momentum as Telcos Demand Unified Anti-Spam Rules

India’s telecom operators are calling for a unified regulatory framework for OTT messaging platforms to tackle the growing problem of spam, phishing, and scam messages. Industry bodies like COAI, representing major players such as Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, argue that apps including WhatsApp and Telegram operate outside the stricter rules applied to SMS and voice services, creating loopholes that fraudsters exploit. They are urging regulators to introduce uniform KYC requirements, stronger spam detection systems, and better integration with existing telecom anti-spam mechanisms. Operators also warn that as traditional networks tighten security, scammers are increasingly shifting to OTT platforms. The discussion is now focused on whether these apps should be brought under similar compliance obligations within India’s telecom or IT regulatory structure.
