Sunrise Plans Up to 190 Job Cuts as Part of Organizational Streamlining

Swiss telecom operator Sunrise has initiated a consultation process to further simplify and streamline its organizational structure, aiming to shorten decision-making paths, reduce hierarchical levels and improve efficiency through greater use of new technologies. As part of this review, Sunrise is evaluating a reduction of up to 190 jobs, including a significant number of leadership positions.

Employees in Sunrise shops and customer-service roles with direct customer contact are largely unaffected, while apprentices will not be impacted at all. The consultation process is being conducted with employee representatives and the Syndicom trade union, and the company’s existing social plan will apply in cases where redundancies are unavoidable. Following the consultation, Sunrise will assess the feedback and make final decisions, with any redundancies expected to take place in February and March 2026.

Global semiconductor industry sales reached a record $75.3 billion in November 2025, rising 29.8 percent year-on-year and 3.5 percent sequentially, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association. The milestone marks the highest-ever monthly sales total, with demand increasing across all major product categories.

Regionally, year-on-year growth was strongest in Asia Pacific and other markets at 66.1 percent, followed by the Americas at 23.0 percent, China at 22.9 percent, and Europe at 11.1 percent, while Japan declined 8.9 percent. On a month-to-month basis, sales increased across all regions except Japan.

SIA said the global chip market is expected to expand significantly in 2026, with annual sales projected to approach $1 trillion, underscoring strong long-term demand for semiconductors.

AT&T Launches IoT Network Intelligence to Enhance Enterprise Device Performance Visibility

AT&T has introduced AT&T IoT Network Intelligence, a new solution designed to give enterprises deeper visibility into the performance of their connected IoT ecosystems. Built for the next phase of 4G and 5G connectivity, the platform aims to improve operational efficiency and simplify large-scale IoT device management.

The initial offering, IoT Network Intelligence Standard, provides enterprises with a comprehensive set of network performance KPIs for devices connected to the AT&T network. Through an intuitive visualization dashboard, customers can quickly access actionable insights to support data-driven decision-making, optimize operations, and improve end-user experience.

Key capabilities include device-level KPIs such as signal strength, data throughput, and latency, location-based performance insights across geographic areas, and advanced analytics to identify performance outliers and improvement opportunities.
