DoT Cracks Down: Navi Mumbai Airport Must Open Doors to Telecom Operators
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has directed Navi Mumbai International Airport to permit licensed telecom operators to install their own mobile network infrastructure within the airport premises following complaints over restricted access and high charges. In its communication to Adani Airport Holdings Ltd, DoT clarified that the airport qualifies as a public entity under the Telecommunications Act, 2023 and must grant Right of Way permissions in a fair and transparent manner under the Telecommunications (Right of Way) Rules, 2024. The directive is expected to improve mobile connectivity and facilitate seamless 4G and 5G services at the airport.
