Spectrum Dispute Stalls India’s ₹20,000-Crore Public Safety Network
India’s ₹20,000-crore public safety modernisation programme has been delayed due to a disagreement between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Department of Telecommunications over spectrum allocation. The Home Ministry argues that the 700 MHz band is essential for a nationwide 5G-enabled emergency communication network due to its superior coverage. However, the telecom department says the band is already heavily utilised by defence forces, railways and BSNL. Instead, alternative frequencies in the 800 MHz and 400 MHz bands have been allocated. Security officials warn that excluding the 700 MHz band could limit network effectiveness, potentially weakening disaster response capabilities and national security preparedness.
Eurofiber Partners Netways Europe to Speed Up Private 5G Deployments
Eurofiber has strengthened its Mobile Private Network ecosystem by integrating Netways Europe as a strategic partner, alongside Nokia, NTT DATA and Greenet. The collaboration aims to accelerate enterprise private 5G rollouts by streamlining hardware logistics, staging and deployment. Netways Europe will handle preconfiguration, testing and delivery of network equipment, enabling technology partners to focus on core network design and management. A key feature of the partnership is its sustainable lifecycle approach, under which equipment is managed as reusable solution sets. Returned hardware will be refurbished or responsibly recycled, supporting circular economy goals and faster, more reliable private 5G deployments.
stc Bahrain and Huawei Deepen Alliance with AI-Led TechCo Vision
stc Bahrain has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with Huawei to advance EVOLVE 2.0, accelerating its shift from a traditional telecom operator to a technology-focused TechCo. The partnership focuses on embedding Generative AI, advanced cloud platforms and data intelligence into core operations. It includes deploying Copilot-style AI capabilities and enabling zero-touch, autonomous network operations. By integrating intelligence across network planning, marketing and service management, stc Bahrain aims to improve efficiency, enhance customer experience and unlock new digital services, reflecting a broader industry move toward AI-driven telecom transformation.
