India’s smartphone market grew 7 percent year-on-year in April-June 2025, reaching 39 million units. This follows two quarters of decline. Growth was driven by new smartphone launches and changes in channel strategies. Shipment increases were mainly due to new launches in Q2 after vendors delayed shipments in Q1 due to high inventory. The top five brands in Q2 2025 were Vivo (8.1 million units, 21 percent market share), Samsung (6.2 million units, 16 percent market share), OPPO (5 million units), Xiaomi (5 million units), and Realme (3.6 million units). Apple ranked sixth, with the iPhone 16 family accounting for over 55 percent of its shipments. The telecom industry is innovating by expanding long-term financing options for mid- to high-end models.
