French Telecom Giants in Talks to Acquire Altice’s French Assets
French telecom operators Orange, Bouygues Telecom, and Iliad-owned Free are reportedly in discussions with Altice Group regarding the potential purchase of significant portions of Altice’s French telecom operations, including the SFR network. The talks follow a previous joint bid in October 2025, which Altice rejected. Media reports indicate a possible renewed offer could value the assets at around €20 billion. Due diligence began in early January 2026.

A January 2026 Opensignal Mobile Network Experience Report shows Oman’s top mobile operators Ooredoo, Omantel, and Vodafone performing strongly in 5G speed, coverage, and reliability over October December 2025. Ooredoo claimed wins in Reliability Experience, Download Speed, and 5G Upload Speed, while also sharing awards in gaming and network uptime. Omantel led in Coverage Experience, 5G Coverage, 5G Video, and consistent quality, supported by fiber rollout and 5G Standalone upgrades. Vodafone maintained solid results, winning Upload Speed Experience and sharing in gaming and video accolades.
