MTN Nigeria & Huawei Bring Breakthrough Mobile Connectivity to Remote Villages

MTN Nigeria and Huawei have completed the first commercial deployment of RuralCow, a compact “all‑in‑one” mobile base station designed to bring connectivity to remote, rural areas. This innovation drastically lowers the barriers to rural coverage; it reduces power consumption by 85 percent and equipment needs by around 70 percent, avoids heavy construction machinery, and works without fiber links. RuralCow can cover far‑flung villages, achieve 30 km non‑line‑of‑sight transmission, and shorten return‑on‑investment periods for small villages (pop. 1,000–3,000) from 5–10 years down to roughly 3 years.

Bharti Airtel Buzzes with High-Value Trading and Institutional Momentum

On 9 December 2025, Bharti Airtel saw high‑value trading of about 4.98 lakh shares, with turnover exceeding ₹104 crore, while the share price remained in a narrow intraday range of ₹2,083–₹2,100, closing around ₹2,090. The modest price change and tight trading band suggest consolidation, with the stock trading within 3.9 percent of its 52‑week high (₹2,174.5), indicating it remains near peak levels. Strong liquidity and consistent institutional interest make Airtel an attractive pick for large‑scale investors.

6G Revolution: Ericsson and Nokia Pivot from Hardware to Software-Driven Networks

The upcoming 6G expected around 2030 may mark the end of the traditional “G‑generation” upgrade cycle for network vendors like Ericsson and Nokia. Because 5G failed to deliver a “killer app” driving demand, carriers are reluctant to make another massive hardware spend. Instead, telcos and the Next Generation Mobile Networks Alliance (NGMN) suggest 6G should be deployed via software upgrades on existing infrastructure avoiding sweeping hardware refreshes.

Algeria Powers Ahead: $492 million 5G Rollout Set to Revolutionize Connectivity

Algeria has awarded three national mobile operators Mobilis, Djezzy, and Ooredoo licenses worth a combined US$ 492 million (DZD 63.9 billion) to begin rolling out 5G networks. The six‑year plan will start with eight pilot provinces and aims for full nationwide coverage by 2031. 5G promises high-speed, low-latency connectivity, unlocking innovations in sectors such as AI, cloud computing, fintech, robotics, digital health, IoT, and smart mobility. Operators will launch both consumer and enterprise‑oriented services, enabling better customer experience and supporting broader digital economy growth.
