Starlink and Gujarat Join Forces to Bring Lightning-Fast Internet to Remote Areas
The Gujarat government has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite internet arm, to provide high-speed connectivity in remote, border, and underserved areas. The agreement, formalized in Gandhinagar, involves connecting Common Service Centres, government schools, disaster management centers, ports, and wildlife sanctuaries under the state’s Digital Connectivity Mission. Pilot projects will also target tribal districts like Narmada and Dahod, improving access to education, healthcare, telemedicine, and government services. A Joint Working Group will oversee implementation, while connectivity enhancements extend to industrial parks, highway safety systems, and coastal policing.
