The talks involved senior government officials and IFC leadership, focusing on mobilising strategic funding to support the country’s digital transformation agenda. Key priorities include expanding telecom networks and improving digital infrastructure to boost connectivity and economic development. To move the initiative forward, both sides have established a dedicated working group tasked with developing concrete projects and overseeing implementation. The collaboration signals Guinea’s intent to attract global investment and accelerate its transition into a more digitally connected economy.

A UK High Court has ruled that Samsung must pay $392 million to license key mobile network patents from ZTE, marking a major development in their global legal battle. The dispute centers on fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory (FRAND) terms for essential telecom patents required for smartphone connectivity. The court’s decision falls between Samsung’s proposed $200 million and ZTE’s $731 million demand, following failed negotiations to renew a 2021 agreement. Parallel lawsuits are ongoing in multiple countries, highlighting the global scale of the conflict. The ruling underscores the UK’s growing role in setting worldwide patent licensing terms, with both companies retaining the right to appeal.
