India’s Chip Revolution: GX Group Bets ₹500 Crore on Photonics Manufacturing

GX Group will invest ₹500 crore to establish GX Quantum Photonics Pvt Ltd in India, focusing on advanced photonics modules and chip systems for next-generation broadband, 5G/6G, and quantum communication technologies. Headquartered in Manesar, Gurgaon, the venture aims to produce 3 million chips annually and create over 300 direct jobs. Phase 1 will fund a manufacturing facility in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, and expand an R&D center in Chennai, with operations starting by Q1 FY27 and local chip availability by October 2026. The company has partnered with Netherlands-based SMART Photonics BV for Indium Phosphide-based photonics integrated circuits, targeting a USD 50 billion market in India, Economic Times reports.

CVC DIF and Jersey Telecom Acquire Manx Telecom

CVC DIF and Jersey Telecom plan to acquire Manx Telecom Group, the Isle of Man’s leading telecom operator, in a £500 million deal. Manx Telecom, established in 1987, operates the island’s fibre and copper networks and two Tier III data centres. Under the agreement, Jersey Telecom will hold 45 percent and CVC DIF 55 percent of the company. The acquisition aims to strengthen digital infrastructure across the Crown Dependencies, enhancing broadband, mobile, and secure data services.

Madagascar Moves to Slash Sky-High Mobile Internet Tariffs

On October 24, 2025, Madagascar’s telecom regulator, ARTEC, called on mobile network operators to reassess and reduce mobile internet tariffs following widespread public complaints about high costs. This move builds on initiatives that began in late 2024, which resulted in the first round of tariff adjustments now in effect.
