Flo Networks Expands Fiber Connectivity in Arizona and Texas

Flo Networks announced new fiber expansions to strengthen U.S. connectivity, introducing a new route between Tucson and Phoenix and adding Abilene, Texas, as an on-net city. Abilene is now connected to Austin and Dallas, with optional extensions to El Paso or Phoenix. These expansions use entirely new infrastructure with path separation from existing networks, reducing risk of outages and improving redundancy. The Tucson-Phoenix route supports regional connectivity growth, while the Abilene link strengthens access across Texas.

Home Telecom Expands SmartTown Community Wi-Fi to Berkeley High School Athletic Fields

Home Telecom has deployed SmartTown Community Wi-Fi at Berkeley High School athletic fields, with service beginning August 29 during the Berkeley Stags’ first home varsity football game. The network allows Home Telecom customers to connect automatically while visitors use the SmartTown Visitor option, and includes protection against hacking, viruses, and other cyber threats. This launch follows earlier SmartTown rollouts in Nexton and Main Street Moncks Corner. By June 2025, SmartTown reached 12 markets with over 22,000 access points and more than 2 million connections across the United States. The initiative is supported by the Calix Broadband Platform and GigaSpire systems, which enable scalable and rapid community Wi-Fi expansion. Home Telecom has also advanced broadband infrastructure with multi-gig internet, including a 5 Gig residential launch in Nexton.

Telecom Industry Expands Innovation with Tracking, RCS, Cloud, and Next-Gen Networks

The telecommunications sector is advancing with new products and infrastructure changes. Fi introduced the Fi Mini, a GPS and health tracker that attaches to any collar or harness, offering GPS and cellular tracking for under $12 per month including hardware, showing how telecom networks extend connectivity beyond traditional devices. Telecom operators are expanding Rich Communication Services (RCS) across major U.S. carriers, with platforms such as Infobip enabling brands to deliver services through multimedia and interactive messaging. Partnerships with cloud providers like CSG and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are driving adoption of cloud-native systems, reducing costs and supporting new service models.

Quectel Expands 5G Antenna Portfolio for IoT and Telecom Applications

Quectel Wireless Solutions announced two new 5G antennas, YECT004W5AM and YECT005WFA, designed for telecom and IoT devices. The YECT004W5AM is a surface-mount dipole antenna with a Fakra female Code Z connector, supporting 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G across 600–6000 MHz and meeting IP67, REACH, and RoHS compliance. The YECT005WFA is a whip dipole antenna with an RP-SMA male connector, supporting multiple generations of cellular networks across the same frequency range, operating from –40 °C to +85 °C with a PC/ABS casing for environmental resistance. Both antennas are suitable for gateways, routers, smart meters, vending machines, industrial IoT, smart home systems, and enterprise devices.
