FirstLight Selects VETRO to Modernize Management of 25,000-Mile Fiber Network
FirstLight Networks has selected VETRO as its official network system of record as the fiber operator expands its high-speed infrastructure. The partnership provides a cloud-native, map-based platform intended to unify network data, improve visibility into physical-layer assets and accelerate service delivery and repairs. FirstLight and VETRO have already completed a comprehensive migration of legacy network data into the platform, creating a single authoritative view of the company’s 25,000-mile fiber network. The deployment moved from contract to go-live in approximately two and a half months, compared with a typical six- to 12-month timeline for migrations of similar scale. The platform is expected to strengthen operational efficiency, support faster service activation and provide greater insight into network assets and usage.
T-Mobile Pairs Pixel 11 Pro XL Launch with Advanced 5G and Satellite Connectivity
T-Mobile is positioning Google’s Pixel 11 lineup as a showcase for its latest 5G Advanced capabilities, including six-carrier aggregation for faster downloads and Uplink Transmit Switching for improved uploads. The Pixel 11 family is also the first Pixel series to support these capabilities on T-Mobile’s network. Customers with qualifying plans can use T-Satellite with Starlink when traditional cellular coverage is unavailable, extending connectivity beyond terrestrial network reach. T-Mobile is offering the Pixel 11 Pro XL for up to $1,300 off with an eligible trade-in and qualifying service, while other Pixel 11 models are also available through financing and promotional offers.
Wire 3 Commits $40 Million to Bring 10-Gig Fiber to 39,000 Athens Locations
Wire 3 is expanding its fiber network into Athens, Georgia, with a fully funded $40 million investment expected to reach more than 39,000 homes and businesses. Construction is scheduled to begin this fall, with the first customers expected to receive service as early as winter. The expansion will deliver symmetrical, multigigabit connectivity with speeds reaching up to 10 gigabits per second. Athens becomes the latest addition to Wire 3’s accelerating Georgia rollout, following investments of $60 million in Macon, $37 million in Albany and $38 million in Warner Robins and Centerville. The company is using a 100 percent fiber model to expand high-speed broadband access while offering residents and businesses an alternative to traditional cable connectivity.
