Elsight Expands US and German Production for 5G, Satellite and RF Connectivity Platform
Elsight is expanding manufacturing in the United States and Germany as demand rises for resilient connectivity for drones and other autonomous systems. Its Halo platform combines LTE/5G, satellite and RF links into a single encrypted connection and is designed to provide 99 percent connectivity reliability. Elsight says the technology has accumulated more than 500,000 operational hours across over 100 customers. The German manufacturing network has capacity approaching 10 million units annually, while its U.S. partner operates two high-performance SMT production lines. Halo is available as a sub-100-gram OEM module or ruggedised unit and supports beyond-visual-line-of-sight operations. The manufacturing expansion follows Halo’s inclusion on the U.S. DCMA Blue UAS Cleared List and supports growing NATO-aligned defence deployments.
MDA Space Deploys First Eight Globalstar Satellites for Direct-to-Device and IoT Connectivity
MDA Space has deployed the first eight new satellites being built for Globalstar’s low-Earth-orbit communications constellation. The satellites were launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 on August 15, 2026, from Cape Canaveral and have entered in-orbit commissioning. Another nine satellites ordered by Globalstar are in the final stages of integration at MDA Space. Once operational, the new spacecraft will extend the life and capacity of Globalstar’s existing constellation, which supports satellite-enabled direct-to-device connectivity on selected mobile phones and IoT applications. The program is also MDA Space’s first commercial communications constellation delivered as prime contractor. MDA has opened new high-volume satellite manufacturing capacity as demand increases for LEO constellations and satellite-mobile convergence.
Vero Fiber Completes 2.3 Gbps FTTH Network Covering 1,800 Texas Locations
Vero Fiber has completed construction of a new fiber-to-the-home broadband network in Crane, Texas, providing more than 1,800 homes and businesses with fiber access. The new network delivers symmetrical internet speeds of up to 2.3 Gbps, replacing slower legacy connectivity options and supporting remote work, online education, telehealth and business applications. Crane becomes part of Vero Fiber’s growing Texas footprint, where the company has now constructed fiber networks in 13 communities. The operator is focusing its expansion on smaller and underserved markets where access to high-capacity broadband infrastructure remains limited. The Crane project demonstrates continuing investment in regional FTTH networks as U.S. operators increasingly migrate residential broadband from copper and wireless alternatives toward scalable fiber infrastructure capable of supporting multi-gigabit services.
Verizon Connectivity Supports Real-Time School Safety Communications Platform
Verizon Business, Status Solutions and Status Solutions Network are demonstrating a connected school-safety deployment at Zane Trace Local School District in Ohio. Verizon provides secure network connectivity supporting real-time alerts, video and situational-awareness information, while Status Solutions supplies the software platform used for campus communications and emergency coordination. Status Solutions Network uses memberships and corporate sponsorships to fund safety technology for participating schools, allowing schools to receive systems without directly bearing the technology cost. The deployment integrates connectivity, mobile applications, digital signage and communications tools to improve response coordination during incidents.
