Cellcard Plans $300 Million Cambodia Network Investment with Huawei

Cambodian operator Cellcard has signed an MoU with Huawei covering $300 million of additional investment in its telecommunications infrastructure. The agreement takes Cellcard’s cumulative investment over three decades to approximately $5.6 billion. The new programme is expected to strengthen mobile-network capacity, coverage and digital infrastructure as Cambodian operators prepare for greater data demand and next-generation services. Cellcard and Huawei have worked together since 1999, making the latest agreement an extension of a long-running network partnership. The sizeable commitment is particularly significant for Cambodia’s relatively small telecom market and provides Cellcard with additional resources for network modernisation as competition shifts increasingly toward network quality, mobile broadband capacity and future 5G capabilities.

Spectrum Activates AI Compute Across More Than 1,000 Network Edge Facilities

Charter Communications’ Spectrum has started distributing AI computing resources across its network, using more than 1,000 existing edge facilities across the United States. The infrastructure can place computing capacity within approximately 10 milliseconds of 500 million connected devices in homes and businesses. Spectrum’s Edge Compute Infrastructure combines its high-capacity fiber footprint and distributed facilities with NVIDIA accelerated computing. Commercial collaborations include Cast AI, HP and Hydra Host. Rather than constructing an entirely separate edge network, Spectrum is adding compute resources to powered facilities already embedded within its broadband infrastructure. The architecture could support robotics, video analytics, AI inference and other latency-sensitive applications while giving the cable operator another way to monetise its extensive fiber and distributed-network footprint.

Samsung and SK Telecom Deploy Private 5G Across 16 Floors of Hana Financial Headquarters

Samsung Electronics and SK Telecom have deployed South Korea’s first financial-sector private 5G smart office at Hana Financial Group’s new headquarters in Incheon. The network spans 16 floors, multiple group affiliates and thousands of employees. Samsung supplied the radios, baseband equipment and cloud-native 5G Standalone core operating with Korea’s dedicated 4.7 GHz private 5G spectrum. Network slicing provides individual Hana subsidiaries with separate operating environments and security policies. Employees can connect 5G-enabled laptops, tablets and other devices directly to internal systems. The deployment extends private 5G beyond manufacturing and logistics into financial services, where strict network separation and data-security requirements have historically restricted widespread enterprise wireless adoption.
