Reliance Jio has urged TRAI to adopt a more flexible stance on net-neutrality rules, highlighting the evolving global approach under 5G. With its standalone 5G rollout, Jio is exploring tariff plans enabled by network slicing — such as low-latency gaming or high-upload speed packages. The company noted that regulators in the UK and US have already updated net-neutrality frameworks to accommodate specialised services and premium tiers.

Cassava Technologies, through its subsidiary Liquid Telecom, has raised over $150 million in fresh equity to refinance debt and strengthen its balance sheet. Backed by global investors including NVIDIA, Google, IFC, and British International Investment, the funding will accelerate expansion across Africa’s digital infrastructure landscape. The investment also supports Liquid’s data centre growth through a minority stake deal with STANLIB Infrastructure Investments and a right offering for existing shareholders.

BSNL Set to Revolutionize Connectivity with VoWiFi Launch

BSNL is preparing to roll out Voice‑over‑Wi‑Fi (VoWiFi) after a successful pilot in two zones, signalling investment in upgraded network services and customer‑experience. The technology allows customers to place voice calls over a Wi‑Fi network when mobile signal is weak, complementing existing VoLTE infrastructure. Customers only need a BSNL SIM and a Wi‑Fi‑calling capable handset, enabling better indoor/low‑signal coverage. BSNL is also planning customised recharge plans targeting women and students, demonstrating enhanced customer focus.

Shock at Vasna: Jio 5G Equipment Worth ₹25,000 Stolen from Telecom Tower

A base‑station component belonging to Jio (a BBU card) valued at around ₹25,000 was reported stolen from a telecom tower near Jivraj Mehta Hospital in the Vasna area of Ahmedabad. The alarm went off early on 7 Nov 2025, prompting maintenance staff from contractor Pratap Technocare to inspect and find the missing card. Police (Vasna station) have registered a FIR and are reviewing CCTV footage.
