India Makes Telecom History: Indigenous 4G Rollout Puts Nation Among Global Leaders
India has achieved a major milestone in its telecom sector by becoming the fourth country in the world to deploy indigenous mobile tower technology through BSNL’s large-scale network upgrade. Built with homegrown solutions developed by C-DOT, TCS, and Tejas Networks, and deployed across nearly 100,000 towers, the initiative reduces reliance on global vendors like Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, and ZTE. The rollout, supported by government programs, strengthens India’s push for technological self-reliance under the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” vision. Officials say the indigenous 4G stack is fully 5G-upgradable, ensuring future-ready infrastructure. The project also aims to improve rural connectivity, expand digital access, and position India as a potential exporter of telecom technology in the coming years.

EXA Infrastructure, which recently acquired Aqua Comms, is consolidating operations while ensuring uninterrupted customer support. The transaction remains subject to final agreements and regulatory approvals.
