Bangladesh Telecoms Sound Alarm: Fuel Shortages Threaten Nationwide Network

Mobile telecom companies in Bangladesh have appealed to the government for prioritized fuel supplies and stable power to prevent service interruptions amid a global energy crunch and frequent outages. The Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) warned that fuel scarcity and electricity disruptions could jeopardize nationwide connectivity. They noted that recent storms have worsened power outages, especially in rural areas, and prolonged restoration times. With about 45,000 towers and critical network infrastructure serving 185 million people, operators stressed the urgent need for assured fuel for generators, dedicated transport fuel, and reduced load shedding at key sites to maintain uninterrupted telecom services.
